Sketch 30

I hadn't drawn an angel yet so I remedied that.

30 sketches in 31 days. Not bad. I think I will try to keep up about three sketches a week from here on out. We'll see how it goes.

Just to show how truly dorky I am.

Sketch 24

Google Earth now has mapped Malacandra (aka Mars). I don't think Google will rest until every atom is constantly monitored by a satellite cam or microscopic recon vessel cam. Still pretty cool though. So I though an illustration of some sorns was in order.

The article that I read today that got squid on my brain: link. It is long but well worth it if you like everything pertaining to giant squid.

Watch Out! Giant fire-breathing cave turtles guard their territory with a terrible tenacity.

Califonia Trip

In May, after Laura graduates, we are taking a trip to California. We are flying into LAX and driving a loop up the coast to Monterey, over to Yosemite, and back down to 29 Palms (where my brother is stationed). Every time I turn on the news I feel very blessed to be able to take such a trip, for pure pleasure, while there is such struggle going on in the world (and in our own country). If anyone has any tips on said route let us know.

1700 Miles of Mountains, Caverns, and Desert

Sorry for the interruption from my daily sketches but I was on a trip to Carlsbad Caverns and Big Bend (and was decidedly away from internet connectivity). So to appease my transgression I will post some pictures and continue with the sketches later today.

The entire group who went to the Caverns.
The descent into the Caverns.

Santa Elena Canyon (The scale is out of proportion in this picture. Those stones are enormous boulders.)
Our campsite.
The view from the top of Emory.
Looking back to the basin where we started our hike.
Neal standing on the edge.

Some hot springs on the river.

Sketch 1

I realized the other day that due to a shortage of boring classes and sermons that my regular sketching has been somewhat nonexistent. So in an effort to remedy that I have decided that during the month of March I will try and do a sketch of a reasonable quality every day. I will be posting them on my blog in an effort for it to live up to its namesake. Todays sketch is of the speakers hanging over my head at church and of our pastor, Liam, as he is giving his sermon.
