Colorado 2012 Part 1

Laura and I took the last week in May to visit the great state of Colorado.  We flew in and out of Denver, spent some time in Denver visiting Laura's great aunt, and drove a rental car to Ouray to visit Brooke's family.
Our route.  Note that this is my idea of a non-roadtrip vacation.

The Denver Art Museum.  This turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.  It was an excellent museum with a great collection.

We took a side trip to Boulder home of University of Colorado.

Some superheros walking around the pearl street mall in Boulder.

Driving through the mountains.

The road up to Mt. Evans (the thin white line is the road).

More driving up.

Some friendly mountain goats.

Part 2 here.

Aronofsky to Direct the Next Wolverine Movie

Darren Aronofsky is slated to direct the next Wolverine film with Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine although it won’t be necessarily connected to the other x-men and wolverine films.  It will revolve around Wolverine’s adventures/tragedies in Japan.

Sometimes the universe aligns in such a way that it seems to cater to your specific whims – and when this happens you usually can’t really believe it to be true.  This movie announcement is one of those times for me.  Aronofsky – who is one of my favorite directors – is tackling a superhero movie?  Next thing you know Miyazaki will announce his plans to animate Lewis’s Out of the Silent Planet.

So in honor of this news I did a quick sketch of Wolverine in the infamous scene from Pi:

(PS Thanks to Brian for the heads up)

Hark, A Vagrant

A funny webcomic Laura found for me last week:

Anything that uses 19th century science fiction writers and the word "dirigible" will probably elicit a chuckle from me:

This is what I always imagined would happened if these two ever met.

IF- Brave

This week I was inspired by the wonderfully treacherous world that was created by David Petersen with his Mouse Guard series. Imagine medieval life through the eyes of a mouse and you start to get the idea. Those little guys epitomize the concept of bravery. Also I wanted to see how a kangaroo rat would conceptually translate.

Transformer 03 1982 DeLorean (including the flux capacitor)

"Roads. Where we're going we don't need roads."

So with today’s transformer I am really showing my roots as a child of the eighties. I also have the perfect name for him: “Great Scott”.

And while I am on the subject of time travel here is a great poster for your time machine created by Ryan North:

And an XKCD:

Note: I probably shouldn’t watch Primer and Lost within a week of one another.
